The Midland Centre held another successful and enjoyable Summer Sprint on Sunday, 1st August. The event was intended to be a 'double-lapper' but efficient organisation meant that we even had time to squeeze in a third run for those who had survived the first two! So, most competitors got their monies-worth. Details of the final times can be found on our Centre website. Many thanks to those volunteers who turned out to act as marshals. We will hope to see everyone again at next year's Spring Sprint.
MGC GT For Sale
We have received an email from a former Midland Centre member who wishes to sell his MGC GT, a photo of which appears on left. He has given his consent for his details to be circulated. The seller’s name is Stephen Miles and he lives in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire. His email address is – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Anyone interested in buying this car should contact Mr Miles directly for further information.
Charity Auction
The raffle at the recent MGCC Midland Centre “Midsummer Gathering” was for the Royal Marine Commandos “Tour de France” charity to raise funds for C Group dedicated assistance in retraining injured Commandos. This raised £270 for the charity (upped to £300 by the Centre).
One of the donated prizes was received from the R.M. Commandos at Lympstone, Devon via Committee member Dominic Mooney’s brother-in-law, who is Adjutant there. This Prize Ticket for two people for the King’s Squad Passout at Lympstone (held on various Fridays) is very much coveted. Consequently it was decided that as the donation was a bit too “special” for our raffle, it was suggested that instead we hold a sealed bid auction. All bids now need to be sent to the MGCC Midland Centre Chairman (John Fry) before or at The Middleton Hall event on 22nd August. The bids will be opened in the afternoon at a specified time.
John Fry’s address is:- Peartree Cottage, Frith Common, Lindridge, nr Tenbury Wells, Worcs, WR15 8JX. Please mark entries as “Sealed Bid”.
We realise that this offer may be of limited interest, but let's all remember what these guys & gals have to put up with.
Midland Centre Autumn Trial - 26 September 2010
The Midland Centre's annual Autumn Trial takes place at Burton Dassett Country Park on Sunday, September 26th. Entry forms and regs are now available to download from our Calendar Of Events page. We always need marshals to assist with this event, so if you fancy a day out in the countryside please give Brian Osborn a call on 0121 453 3380. Failing that, spectators can watch for free, so please come along and give your support.
Midland Centre 'Chairman's Picnic' - 22 August 2010
We are pleased to tell you that this year's 'Chairman's Picnic' will be held in conjunction with our friends and colleagues from the MG Octagon Car Club on Sunday, 22 August, and the venue will be the historic Middleton Hall, near Tamworth, Staffs. For further details of Middleton Hall, please visit their website at - www.middleton-hall.org.uk
There will be an entrance fee of £15 per car, and attractions will include a brass band, a guided tour of the nature reserve and the hall and buildings. For further information, please contact Roger Bragger on 01827 54692. An entry form, in PDF format, can be downloaded from the Centre website. We have been advised that it will be preferable for anyone expecting to attend the event to complete the form in advance. They will then receive a windscreen label which will allow them access straight into the event without having to queue with other non-MG visitors. Further, visitors without labels may find that they are directed to general parking, rather than the area reserved for MGs. Also, the application form provides the opportunity to elect to join one of the guided tours. Places on these tours will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so people turning up ‘on the day’ may find that all spaces have been taken. It is therefore better to complete the form in advance if anyone wishes to avoid queues, get into the correct car park, and/or join one of the guided tours.

Welsh Rallye 2010
The Midland Centre's annual Welsh Rallye took place over the weekend of 8/9 May, and a good time was had by all. A report with some photos appears on the 'Events Reports' page.
Volunteer Marshals
As some of you may know, the MGCC Midland Centre organises four principal sporting events during the year – two Trials and two Sprints. The Spring Trial is held at Lintridge Farm, near Ledbury, and the Autumn Trial is held at Burton Dassett Country Park, near Gaydon, Warwicks. Both the Spring Sprint and the Summer Sprint are held at Curborough, near Lichfield.
For all these events, we always need the help of volunteer marshals. Marshalling is not an onerous task (as long as the weather is good!), and many people who volunteer find that they enjoy the event(s) and return in the future.
For those of you who are more local to the event locations, and have people in your groups who might be interested in assisting at any of these events, please ask them to contact the Midland Centre via our central email address – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Without the help of volunteers, these and other similar events cannot take place, so please give it some thought.

Midland Centre Regalia
Do you need a new cap to protect your delicate head when driving with the top down? Are you looking for a new polo shirt to show off those tanned arms so redolent of being an MG owner? Well, you could do worse than check out our range of Midland Centre regalia (now referred to as 'merchandise' in some quarters), much of which can have emblems and logos customised to suit your own requirements. As well as the traditional caps and shirts, we can also supply other items, such as fleeces, amongst a large range of clothing, all at very reasonable prices. For further information, please give Paul Hipkiss a call on 0121 550 4280.

We hope that Midland Centre members will take this opportunity to purchase a piece of MG Car Club history, and possibly see their own cars in action nearly 60 years ago! As a value-added bonus, the DVD is introduced by MGCC President Bill Wallis, himself a Midland Centre member and former Committee member, and Bill also provides commentary throughout the DVD. Running time is approx. 105 minutes.
Our price for the DVD is as follow:
